Labranda is a religious site and sacred area located in the mountainous region beyond Milas. Regarded as a sacred land by both the Karia and Misia civilizations in the Age of Antiquity, Labranda is nestled in plane trees, which are also considered sacred. This town is positioned in an old Persian province (called “satrapy”), dating back to 377-352 B.C., and was filled with quaint Hellenistic-style houses and streets built by the Mausolus Dynasty, many of which still remain with ancient writings scripted on them. The must-see site of Labranda is, without a doubt, the Temple of Zeus.
