Located inside the Bodrum Castle, it is the first in Turkey and one of the few of its kind in the world. This museum, founded in 1979, features the Uluburun and Gelidonya shipwrecks, Glass wreckage, late Roman ship ruins and the objects excavated from these sights.

The Underwater Archaeological Museum was ranked among the top 12 finalists out of 44 museums competing for Europe’s Museum of the Year title in 1995 and received the “Special Museum of the Year Award” that same year.
